Last night I ran some water(room temp) and was soaking my chicken, which I normally do, but I fell asleep and awoke 9 hours later with the chicken in the sink still submerged in water. I put it in a container and placed it in the fridge. Is it okay to cook the chicken, or should I disgard it?

The advice alreafy is correct. Always – If in doubt, throw it out. Don’t even ask. If you have doubts, you don’t take a chance. A bit of advice for the future. Don’t ever thaw chicken at room temperature. Either thaw it in the refrigerator, or if you are in a bind, a few minutes on defraust setting in the microwave. Then cook it immediately. There was a time when it was thought to be okay to thaw chicken in water, but it’s no longer true. Even the length of time it might take to do it that way is dangerous. No meat should sit raw at room temperature at all… ever.

NO! do not eat it! Throw it away, it’s not worth risking it and I can almost guarantee you that it is bad!!!!!

i think the rule of thumb is generally if you leave the food out between the temp of 41-141 for longer than 4 hrs, its gone bad. better to lose $5 of chicken than spend time in the hospital for salmonella.

How long can chicken stay in water? Till it stops swimming or it’s toes get wrinkled. OK seriously I wouldn’t take the chance its just not worth it. The chicken has been in the danger ( -39 to + 139) zone way to long.

OMG! Throw it out and wash the bowl. That is not chicken, it is a petri dish. You MIGHT not die if you ate it, but you would wish you could.

if your food is in the temperature danger zone which is between 40 and 135 degrees for more than four hours then it is dangerous to eat. i would throw it out for shizle.
